The Innovation Campus is a significant goal for us, and while much is happening behind the scenes, it's exciting to envision what the campus will look like. We’ve had the privilege of giving this task to the Year 11 DVC students from Pukekohe High School, who eagerly took on the challenge of designing it for us.
This year-long project began with Mike Marr visiting the class to share the ‘why’ behind the campus, offering insight into its importance for Innovation Franklin, the Franklin community, and the students, who may one day take part in the courses offered at the campus.
Now, as the project draws to a close and students submit their designs for assessment, three of our team, Amanda Mills, Brendan Wood, and Fran Oliver, visited the school to view the students' incredible designs and models.
Students tackled the project from various angles—some focused on the campus structure, others on the café, and some on the outdoor seating and features. They explained their inspirations, drawing from their childhood homes, favourite architects, and the Māori designs they had studied. Each design was uniquely creative!
The team were thoroughly impressed by the students’ creativity and passion. Many of their ideas could very well be incorporated into the final design of the Innovation Franklin Campus.
A huge thank you to the Pukekohe High School DVC students—we see a bright and creative future ahead of you!
